well the weather has gotten warmer and "Tommy's Ranch" is in full swing! pictures from one of StudioEast's recent BBQ's. i must admit i am a bit worse for ware as i was in the middle of a crazy work stint and sleep was in short supply! but Laika one of StudioEast's mascots is looking in fine form!

Well studio east has been a flurry of activity the past few weeks, (or has it become months now?!) with Katja working on various projects for companies, and getting ready to bring her work to Milans Design week this year. Tomasz has been working round the clock, working on his ongoing collaboration with Stephen Webster (http://www.stephenwebster.com/) As well as working on making a bunch more of his Chesterfield Bracelets for Basil World http://www.baselworld.com/go/id/ul/lang/eng/. I have been running between the studio and home trying to get work done for my Solo show in may, (opening may 1, which feels like tomorrow!)

all and all the busyness is good, a little hectic but good.

after two days spent on the phone, bt sending out two separate engineers to our area, countless times turning the stupid box on again, and off again, reseting (well you get the point) Studio East now has Broadband! so thats right Katja and Tom, come on over, check your email, surf the net, look for porn, and bask in the warm glow of internet goodness! its ghetto (the box front had to be taken off and there are wires everywhere, but it works! (not to mention the plumber came and fixed the boiler today so there is working radiators too!)

yep. i rule.

now i really really need to get back to work!

So the last few days have been Work Work Work on the new space,
Bulding tables, Putting up shelves, painting, basically trying to make this
a space that we all want to spend a lot of time in (because with as much work
as everyone seems to have lately, it seems like we will practically be living here
in the next year!) but at the end of the day its all about what we like to call studio
bonding (read: getting drunk at the pub) so on that note, to celebrate our new studio
here is the three of us, at el Paso the mexican place in shoreditch after one tequila shot too
many... (actually looking at t his picture i am amazed at how together we all look!) well done
team!

so lots of news for Studio East, we have found an amazing space, our own building actually just down the road from most of us in dalston (right near dalston junction) with central heating, 2 floors, private bathroom and kitchen (pretty swanky indeed!) and we have moved in last weekend (thanks to katja and tom, and i (kelly) was in Milan and wasnt able to help!)

also we are down one member, after much back and forth, Karola has left Studio East. we all agree it is for the best for all involved and hopefully there will be no hard feelings. this also means that we are looking for a new member to share a studio space, and also hopefully to be a part of the group in other ways as well. if you know anyone in the london area who you think might be appropriate, please by all means, send them our way!

Well StudioEast is homeless.

after moving all of our things into cell space before christmas, we get back now, and find that there has been some "misunderstanding" as to the amount of space our studio was going to entail etc.. so now we are back on the street, looking for a space, with everyone busy, and no one wanting to spend the time searching.

The good news is that i have set up a meeting with a space tomorrow, and monday we are going to go re-look at a pretty promising place we were thinking of taking before christmas, so we are hoping to have moved into a new space by next weekend. (i dont think any of us can afford to be without studio space for very long at this point!)

so cross your fingers for us, and stay tuned as the saga continues....
